About the class & expectations
In reading class, students receive instruction and practice in reading strategies that help them grow in vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns about your child and reading.
Lesson Plans: System 44 begins with teacher-directed instruction in Whole Group. Next, the student moves through three rotations: Small Group Instruction, Instructional Software, and Independent Reading. These rotations are spread over two days.
Note: Lesson plans may change in order to meet the needs of students.
Homework: Students are to read at least 20 minutes per day outside of school. Though not part of the grade for class, reading outside of school will help your student build fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
eReads are a way to get in 20 minutes of reading. eReads are informational articles that are available from any computer that is connected to the Internet. eReads can be accessed from home or from computers in the school library. Students use their System 44 username and password. eReads
eBooks are available from any computer connected to the Internet. eBooks are electronic versions of many of the books available in our System 44 classroom library. Students use their System 44 username and password. eBooks
